Now, gun owners will be able to pack that power in their pocket and palm of their hand with Heizer Defense's PAR1 pocket AR-15.
The new pistol is expected to be released in July and fires .223 Remington, the same type of ammunition that AR-15's fire. It's a military cartridge that was designed to fire rapidly in intense situations with minimal recoil.
With a retail price of $449, it's significantly cheaper than most rifles. While the pistol only holds one round, the amount of power now available in an easily concealable package is incredible.
Several of the gun industry publications on the web have written about the firearm and the popular caliber. What's interesting is that not even gun owners and hardcore National Rifle Association supporters back the idea. In fact, many gun owners have commented it's simply too much power to pack into a package of this size. What's more, it only holds one round so the chances of this firearm being a legitimate self-protection tool are overblown.
As an American gun owner, I won't be buying one but I won't lie: I'm curious. The AR-15 is a magnificent tool that can be used as a weapon. The recoil is mild enough that a child can comfortably operate the rifle with relative ease. If the gun manufacturers start to offer a similar experience with 223 rounds, the world of firearms may be in for a drastic change.
